I don't name my newer computerized machines either. A few years ago I named my 500A Nancy (after the aunt who taught me to sew) and was admonished on another group for naming it a girls name - they claimed that 500 and 503 were masculine. Who knew!? So, I guess I don't know how to tell a boy machine from a girl machine!

I haven't named my Rocketeer yet. It looks masculine, but I feel like giving a feminine name. I've thought about Rochester because I listen to old Jack Benny radio shows when I sew. That way if I need a button sewn on, I can say, "Oh, Rochester!"

Someone previously said that she named her machine after her grandmother. Since my grandmother taught me to sew, I may do that.
