Named her Bess
My first treadle 1923 Singer Model#66 Red Eye. I got this about 1 month ago and have been cleaning the dirt and rust off her. She was frozen when I purchased her. Just received the new belt and slide plate today and after a few adjustments she sews beautifully! I am in love with this machine and plan to sew on her tomorrow. Thanks to those of you who have helped with my questions on restoration.

Haven't re-installed the bobbin winder yet, the spring is broken. I had forgotten how smooth these treadle's sew, I learned to sew on my mother's old treadle and have hopes of getting and restoring it too one day.

Thank you. Some of the decals were barely visible. They were covered in a thick gunk. I'm not sure if it was smoke from years ago or just build up of something else but thick, black and yellow as it came off. I took my time and gently worked through the layers and was surprised to find almost perfect decals underneath. I sent the lady whom I purchased it from a picture of her cleaned up and she was so thankful to see it sewing again. She had purchased it 20 years ago at an auction with intentions of restoring. She was reluctant to sell after I arrived and I promised her I would get it running. She offered to buy it back if I ever decide to sell. (I don't think I would ever sell after all the effort and care I put into her...I'm hooked on her now!)
