Default Need help & advice for Kenmore 158-17033

Hey there folks! My cousin picked up this beauty for me at a yard sale yesterday. She's a Kenmore 158-17033, 1.2 amp motor. Came complete with her 1970's vintage table that's in pretty decent shape. She's missing the front slide cover but, strangely enough, still has the other part that changes from a straight to a zig-zag plate in one motion (which is nice).

She seems to be sewing pretty well (albeit slowly and creakily!) but she's filthy. Any advice on what to clean her with (both innards and outer pieces!). I've cleaned up a Featherweight but this is totally different. I'm in the process of Google-ing and checking out YouTube, but I figured you folks are the best ones to ask.

I'm also going to post on the ISO board to see if anyone has a set of cams for her... if anybody here has a set to part with, just send me a PM. (Or has the slide plate, which is probably not going to happen but hey, you never know!).

    Thanks.

You might keep searching on eBay for cams. There are prolific people who search thru garage sales to pick up items to sell on eBay.

I have the same identical machine. Clean her with clear machine oil, inside and out. I bought cams in Goodwill for 4.01. You might buy parts on ebay...
    good Luck..

Are these the top hat cams or the flat ones?
