Default Need help with old machine ............

Just picked up an old New Willard machine this afternoon (minus it's belt). Hubby rigged a belt for it out of leather which sure isn't going to last too long and even though I have several new rubber belts we can't get them on the machine (too tight). They are standard belts and I just can't understand why they won't go on (there is no adjustment with the little motor to get it tighter to the machine head). Do they make different sized belts for these standard tabletop machines? I remember reading in here that someone has a New Willard with the dragon motif (mine is the more common Pansy) and I would like anyone to respond who has a New Willard. Thanks so much ..............

    I don't own a New Willard.
Many times the adjustment is up and down rather than closer or farther away from the machine. You can probably use the temporary leather belt to get a measurement of the size you need. The belts do come in different lengths. It could be the belts you have are just a little short. Sew-Classic.com carries a variety of sizes.
