Need help!! Part for Singer 201
I sent my Singer 201 to the shop because I just didn't have time to do the work. He rewired the motor and has it working. But today he called to tell me the hook is broken. Can I use one off of a 66 model machine??? Or where could I find one. I really would like to have both my 66 and 201 working. So I really don't want to take parts from my 66.

Your OSMG should be able to tell you if he has the ability to get donor parts. It looks like repro hooks for 201's are hard to come by as they're not made any more. If your patient, you should be able to hunt for one if he doesn't have a donor machine.

Same with the 66. The 66 is horizontal too, but uses a bobbin case that's completely different. I think you may find that the 1200 can share,... but that seems to be more rare than a 201, here at least.

I don't see how they can share a hook, since the 15 is vertical, and the 201 is horizontal, but I'm sure open to learning something today. If no one can answer, I'll pull out my parts books tomorrow.

Thanks for the correction on my info!

They look really similar, but under the hood, they're really quite different. I just pulled my book out to see how different, because I'm curious.
In a quick look, they can share a few bolts, the stitch length plate (but not the mechanism and lever behind it), the side arm plate, needle plate, balance wheel, and a few things like that. Even the take up lever is different, and the needle bar for sure (based on part number)
The part number for the hook you're looking for quilt'nmomma is 45271, and when I looked it up on sewing parts online, it said these are the machines that use the same hook: 201-2, 1200, 1200-1, 935U
I find it curious that all of the charts I have only refer to the 201-2 (potted motor), not the 201-1 or the 201-3. I hope if yours is one of the other ones that the hook number is the same. If I can check mine (201-3) while I'm giving it's "welcome to your new home" cleaning / tuneup, I'll post back and let you know for sure.
So please don't take your 66 apart, it won't help either machine!

Sorry for the late confirmation, it took longer than I thought to get it all cleaned and checked out, especially when I threw the timing off trying to take the hook out to clean it.
