Default need new Singer 99 wooden bottom

I bought a crinkle finish 99 sewing machine at an estate sale. I was so admiring the wonderful machine, I did not notice that the veneer was peeling off in places. Amazingly the dome top is in great shape. Anyone have any suggestions about somewhere to buy a new bottom?

It might be easier to glue the veneer back down. Another option would be to try the yahoo sewitsforsale group. It gets lots of traffic. Also, maybe you could try ebay. Having one made will be expensive.

Hopefully, someone will have a better idea.

I agree with bkay, if it's just the veneer it glues back on very well, and the polish shines up very well too. 3/4 sized bases turn up now and then and is of course an option. A simple repalcement can be made from scratch if you have the tools or know someone who does, using the same metal lock parts that's in the original base. It's actually a lot of work to make a base that's as nice and as solid as the original ones.
