Default Need some expertise regarding Singer Auto Reel (600)

I recently purchased a $5.00 Auto Reel from an online auction complete with accessories, manual, etc. After cleaning it. It sewed very nicely. In fact, it sewed a nicer seam using a walking foot on some stage curtains we were making than a couple thousand dollar Bernina with a walking foot!! However, when I went to sew with it the other day, it slowed to a snails pace. I am wondering... what is the problem? Could you machine specialists help me toubleshoot? Motor? Foot control?

Thanks for whatever help you may have to offer!

You could have loosened a little piece of crud that's drifted into one of your moving parts, so......clean again! Also really check out the bobbin area for lint or small pieces of thread. That's a good machine - all metal gears.

It has the same motor as a 401.
It needs a drop if Oil on the motor bearing race. It could also have dried oil in the bobbin area. Nice machine. Pretty much all metal.

Thanks for all your input. I will plan to oil the motor bearing race and check the bobbin area. The machine is at the school where we have sewing circle. I will try to get a picture for Jane Quilter.
