Great find, great story, now we will be waiting for the "rest" of the story and see what a beauty you have redone....oh and some sewing project would be fun to see too. I once passed on one of these cause I'd never seen one before and had no clue how to run it....now I know the quilting board has most of the answers. Always learning something new here....

We'll!, me and my collection of sewing machine parts board the aircraft today.

Here's hoping the "outstanding individuals" on airport security checks don't get thier knickers in a knot about carrying on a sewing machine.....

Welcome to the QB and the vintage site. It sounds like you've caught the bug. And, just to let you know, none of us have or want to find a cure. Your find is fantastic and we'll all enjoy your journey finding more and more wonderful machines that need to come back to life.

I've heard several interesting stories people have shared bringing Featherweights through security in carry on bags. Nothing scary - just a lot of interest.

I enjoyed your story and quite happy for your great find. I, like many others here, cannot wait to hear the end of this journey. And to hear how the "other" quilters drool over this neat machine.

Well, through security and waiting for plane to board.

Looks like I'm "home free".

20 bucks to ship 50 lbs in extra baggage. Can't beat that!

I can't wait till you get this machine home... this has been a interesting saga.

Home safe and sound. The only interesting parts were when they scanned my large bags and we were looking at how detailed the xray machine was (right down to the plywood layers) and a couple of older ladies at security screening that wanted a look at the old singer.

Put the baggage in the basement for now as its nap time.

Traveling really kicks the "fecal matter" out of me these days.....

The 319K (same machine but made in Scotland) was my first truly vintage Singer and I loved it. Came with the box of discs but no buttonholer (I didn't expect too much since it was only $50). Took ages to find a twin needle (six months or so).

The only problem is the limited types and sizes of needles, but a superbly practical machine.

Well, I've had a closer look at my acquisition.

Some test stitching reveals it is dropping stitches.

So.....looks like I've got some cleaning and checking to do over the next few days/week....
