Is yours the Boat Shuttle or Bullet shuttle version? On Needlebar Picture Gallery, they refer to the bullet shuttle version as Model A type 1, though sometimes what Needlebar has on that site is their internally developed naming system.

I found a manual for the bullet shuttle model- unfortunately the seller wants way, way too much money than I can justify for it.
mine has serial number 883220 (provided the slide is original)
From previous discussion, I think Farmhousesewer has the older (boat shuttle) version.

In the overall scheme of things our two machines aren't too far apart serial number wise.
I took a quick look at the Smithsonian manual SteveH posted the link to and looks pretty close. I haven't really read it because I want to print it first. Then read it. Easier on my eyes than the monitor.
Unfortunately I don't have enough ink in the printer.
I agree, some people just want way too much for their manuals.
