Default Nifty cleaning accessory.. cotton makeup "rounds" for cleaning

Lacking cotton balls to apply non-pumice hand cleaner to our little 99 g-daughter project, I rummaged around in one of our daughter's left behind (grew up, moved out to a place of her own) junk in a bathroom drawer. Found cotton "rounds" meant for makeup removal. Little pads about 2 inches in diameter, soft and supple. Used them with great success in gently applying cleaner, metal polish and wax to the project machine. They hold together VERY well and allow me to scrub a little without shredding.Turn them over and you have a new surface! your mileage may vary. Don

I use those too. Sometimes I grab them in a pair of hemostat clamps and use them like a giant cotton swab! Really comes in handy when you have a lot of goopy stuff to get off from inside a machine.

They are handy little things, aren't they? Thanks for the idea, and I will keep that in mind when I get back to my treadle.

Good idea. I will add those to my cleaning kit. Another thing that I have found for my kit is throat swabs. They have longer sticks than Q-tips and the sticks are stronger and have a longer reach.

All of these are great ideas. I just finished semi-cleaning an antique Davis machine, and wish I had thought of those makeup remover pads and the throat swabs. Qtips are really too pliable to do a great job of scrubbing in hard to reach places.
