Well, I'm just sayin'... Antiques Roadshow did appraise and tape in Knoxville in July. So now I'll have to watch those episodes this winter for sure. I'm wondering if a "Packard" top could be a Parquet top?

Don't know. The guy may be smokin' somethin' or just be plain crazy. But I also know I can't count the number of times I've seen something on AR and said out loud, "Are you kidding me?!!!"

Truly, I'm no expert! But, even I know that unless the table was solid gold, it's not worth $180,000.00. I was once told that the value of an object is measured by what the "buyer" is willing to pay. I've also heard that "There's a sucker born every minute." and other less than gracious sayings!

I am really getting tired of talking about how much a sewing machine is worth.

Here's a link to the ad; no picture though. Go figure! Probably a scam, trying to collect email addresses

Antiques Roadshow only shows a few outstanding items on the show. When they go to a town there are dozens of people lined up who get appraisals that are not filmed. Of course if this were true, it might have made the fabulous few!

Just in case anyone took the ad as having any truth in it:

"The highest appraised item in Knoxville was valued at $60,000-80,000 at auction."
From the Knox news

The machine isn't an antique, since it is only 60+ years old, and no one would sell anything that was appraised at $180,000, for $1800 on Craigslist.

not unless it's a scam - they aren't selling it - they are offering it - to sell it they have to come up with a ready and willing sucker er buyer with cash - the scam could just be to collect as many emails as they can get.

1950's sewing machine and other items - $1800 (east knoxville)

I have a 1950's antique sewing machine with a black and gold packard table top. It was appraised on antiques roadshow for 180,000.00. I'm asking 1,800.00. Needs tension adjusted but still works great. I also have a afghan for 350.00 and a quilt for 250.00. I have a crafts folder that is for sale and can be viewed on facebook @ penelope delarosa(betty rose). Thank you and God bless. 865-951-9952

Any thoughts...should I run down and buy it?

I TOTALLY missed the part where she is selling an afghan for $350 and a quilt for $250! The afghan must be crocheted with Golden Fleece!!!!!
