So I got a hint that there might be machine bases. I found a few. then I asked about heads. The man pointed OUTSIDE the building. This can't be good

surely I could find something that would move? Nope. Most potential?

If people had just taken care/maintained their machines. Happy you were able to drag one home.

I was happy when I go the presserfoot to move. LOT of oil and wiggling everything. now all is moving but the clutch and the bobbin drive spool. Rad rod indeed

I've tinkered with it for a long time and can't even find a part #, let alone a name. It is 3/4 sized. Can anyone tell me what I have. The needlebar has a thread slit in the top and it goes down to a hidden V shaped housing. Haven't figured out how to get to it yet.

It really is a shame - that is very sad. I saw one that I probably would have brought home. If Kerosene and EvapO-rust weren't so expensive it would be fun to see how a soaking bath would help.

I've seen some of your restorations and you do a really good job. Keep at it.

That just makes me so sad. My question is why? Do I even want to know?

I have one I'm saving for you Leon. You said you wanted a German handcrank. DH gave one to me a couple of years ago. Since it was a present, I can't pass it on just yet. It doesn't have a shuttle. Steve said it needs a Singer 12 type shuttle.

I'm into mid century machines, which are old. So, everyone thinks I like all old machines. I have a friend who is leaving me her grandmother's treadle. I'd probably prefer her Mom's mid century Singer, but I can't say that. But, you know, there is bound to be someone who will treasure it. I'll try, very hard, to find that person.

I went into a boutique-ish junk/thrift store once after seeing a featherweight silhouette in the window. While there I saw a lot of treadles minus the heads-- the owner proudly explained to me that they were into "useful repurposing" so they were buying up old treadle machines and turning the bases into tables-- they had thrown the heads away. Aaargggggg!!!!!

that's where I got the $60 featherweight-- they thought it was small enough to make a nice decorative lamp or something and hadn't got around to messing with it...

Don't these people do any research to see if there is a market for the things they think are junk? They are in business to make money, right?

We were in Vicksburg MS once and there was a shop we visited that had hundreds of machines laying all over the shop. He was selling the building and I wondered what ever happened to all those machines. They weren't like your photo, these were inside but stacked everywhere. I thought at the time that these lovely machines were headed for the graveyard.

    bkay,

This is Leon on Iris's login. Thanks for thinking of me again. Do you like Kenmores? I have some that could maybe take the Susan express.

    Your machine looks great.
