    Default "Occident" hand crank/treadle machine

    Hello Everyone,

I have just become the proud recipient of an "Occident" vintage machine. She is in pristine shape and has both treadle and hand-wheel capacity. Of course, I still need a table and belt for her, as well as a needle that is longer than the currently available Singer needles.

Has anyone out there heard of this brand? I have done several on-line searches and have only found a couple of mentions of the name, but no info regarding the machine(s).

I will attempt to post pictures, but am fairly computer-illiterate.

    Thanks in advance,
    Sitkaquilter

Sounds interesting, would love to see the pictures! The only thing I know is that the term occident refers to the west, as opposed to orient/east. That doesn't help much, but I'm curious to see what info others may have.

Ismac's needle list says it was made by National, but this is not always 100%.
