OK, so now what do I do with Minerva ?

They're great fun little machines, aren't they? My original research indicated that they were only made for a couple of years, but I saw one here on the board a year or so ago that was made much later.... had a crinkle finish....

Minerva predates common motor usage. Bobbin winder looks like its meant to go up against a treadle belt to drive it. Minnesota B stopped being made by 1910 and was replaced by the Minnesota S. Someone or shop converted it.

I suspect it was converted at a Sears service center, or with a kit from Sears. The motor has a Sears Kenmore number on it: 117.617 and has a crinkle finish that does not match the machine. It's very similar to my Kenmore of the 30s.

Also neither the motor nor the bracket is actually attached to the machine. It's mounted to the wooden base at the hand wheel end and just sits on top of the bed at the back.

Hi Joe,
I was fooling around with my Davis Unique, and the bobbin winder had the same set up as yours----winder pulley lined up with the SM belt pulley. By removing only the winder and putting on the other side of the SM to winder connector, I was able to run the winder off the hand wheel with a donut. Just thought I'd mention this.
