Thanks mypockets! I will try this in the garage for a few days and let you know how it works.
Oh, I spoke with my sister to whom I gifted the 830 record and she is sending me the walking foot. She say's she won't ever use it. Cool! I sure will.

I had a 730, wonderful machine! I used for about a year and then gave it to my DD for her 15th birthday. She used it for about 6 years and then sold it when she bought a 930, she says the 930 will sew through rocks. hahaha She makes costumes.

There was quite a few machines there at savers on kitzke in reno. Mostly, they were on the top of the table to view. This one was shoved under the table and to tell the truth, I wasn't sure what it was until I finally got the case opened. It was tough because someone had closed it wrong and it was jammed shut. To my surprise it was a bernina! I about fainted.
Funny thing is, I rarely go thrifting or look for a sewing machine in the stores.
The booklet says this originally belonged to a lady in fallon.

How lucky you are. One of the things I kept when I moved to Fl. was my old 930 Bernina. It was my first Bernina and I have had it at least 20 years. Of course , the head is all metal, as far as I know and Ive never had any problems with it. When I bought my 180 Bernina embroidery machine, I still used the 930 for regular sewing and just kept the emb. set up for emb. Most of my Bernina sewing friends did the same . Later I bought a Bernina serger and before I bought the 180 I bought a Deco 500 which used little cards. After a short time , I discovered that with the 180 software, I could download free designs from the internet to my pc and send them to my 180. My son lived with me at the time and he was a pc whiz. He taught me how to use the pc and download .etc. Also, he learned how my 108 worked with my pc and for several years when any of my sewing friends had problems with the pc part , he would solve their problems. He never charged any of them a penny. He was our pc teacher. Those were the good old days.
