I have the same disease as you when it comes to buying older machines ~ I am up to 41 now and keep saying I don't need anymore but people keep saying "we are going to throw away granny's old machine" I can't resist and ask if I could have it and they always say "take the thing we will never use it".

This one is just beautiful and it came with a manual ~ wonderful.

I guess I will not be too concerned until I hit the magic # of 41 machines! I thought I was bad...

I've tried the Magic Erasers and they do damage the finish. Be very careful. The one machine I tried it on got dull in that spot. And that makes sense because they're very abrasive.

I have had several vintage Vikings. Good find.

that is totally cool. as for the permanent marker...use a magic eraser (dampened) you know...the kind you buy in the cleaning aisle of the grocery store. Ask me how i know??? silly DH used perm marker to mark shelving in my kitchen (WTH was he thinking?????) cabinets when we took them apart to remodel...he marked on my shelves, right on my shelf paper....anyway, just happen to be wiping them out the other day and saw that the marker was coming off..I was very happy.

OOps, looks like Im a day late and a dollar short as usual jsut be careful not to rub too hard.

I use hand sanitizer for a lot of sewing machine clean up - try it on a small area out of sight first. I like the plaid lining of the carrying case!

If the Other tips don't work, hair spray should get it off easily.
