To get permanent marker off use WD 40 wont harm the paint on this machine . I have one of these machines and like it , I had to get the reverse nob fixed. I paid 35.00 It looks just like yours. I wouldn't use the acetone it might turn it a lighter green , or leave a lighter or a white spot. DottieBug

If the marker is ONLY on the thread path and not the green, you can try fingernail polish remover.

Too right! That lovely green is very 1950s. I've seen one or two of these, but the price has been too high so far. Just remember we're all saving these beauties for future generations

Nice machine ! I would try goo-gone (has an oil base) to remove the marker, not anything abrasive.
Also available is goof-off but this might affect the original finish so, I would not try it.
Alcohol might work also ~ good luck!

I would be VERY wary of using any kind of nail polish remover. Most nail polishes are "enamel" and what is required to remove them will also REMOVE PAINT! Particularly, nail polish removers WITH ACETONE are likely to remove or MAR the paint. I don't have a suggestion other than rubbing alcohol. Good luck. She's a beauty!
