Default Ooops - Bought two more machines

At least they are models I don't have. Today I bought two machines in terrible looking cabinets. I bought a 1919 model 66 Redeye just so I could take it out of the cabinet and set it up to look at. The machine is great. The cabinet has all the veneer coming off.

In that deal I also got a 1950 Singer 201. It is in a cabinet, too but both of these machines are "barn fresh". Both machines are intact and free moving. It is the cabinets that are terrible. Probably going to put the 201 on Craigslist. I could actually paint its cabinet after some sanding. It is "blonde" and is fine inside. All of the exposed portion looks terrible, though. It was also missing a power cord but that can be replaced.

I knew you all would understand. Oh yeah, I spent $20. That plus my $55 church pew for my porch make it an excellent day at the auction!

If you make dresses, you just bought #1 and #2. Well done, and may they serve you well

You may want to refinish the 201 and use it, they are wondful sewing machines and sew through the heavy stuff, with great stitches.

I would love to keep both machines and I may. Space is becoming a factor. I have four modern machines including an embroidery machine and a midarm quilting machine on a frame. I also have a FW, two 301s (one is being painted red), a 99K and 9W treadle.

My husband is already talking about repairing the treadle and I think I could make the 201 table look good with that gel stain that is now popular. I am not fond of the "blonde" look. If not, I have another table that came - without a sewing machine - when I bought a used Janome for my DIL. The 201 would fit in it, I think. It is listed on ISMAC as one of the tables a 201 was available in.

For those interested, here are the barn fresh pictures. They are in the dry now. They are setting in the garage in front of my car.

And, for anyone interested, here is the church pew I bought at the same auction. It is now centered on the window. My husband and sons couldn't understand why it wasn't fine where it was.

Great buys...I got a 201 in the cabinet at an estate sale and my neighbor replaced the cord and cleaned it all up nice, but I just don't have the room for it. Torn on what to do...
I just LOVE the pew though, the details on the sides. I would absolutely have to center it also- why can't men see things like that???

Thanks! Yes, I had a good time. I went over at 8:15. About 8:45 I turned around and there was my SIL. About an hour later my MIL showed up. Both of them had been dropped off and didn't buy a thing but really enjoyed my purchases. My SiL said, "Okay, when is the next sale we can go to together?"
