For the most part when we discuss a 15 Clone it's a Japanese or other Asian made copy of the Singer model 15, with a few embellishments.
So, in your opinion is the machine featured in this auction { http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions...-18956251.html } a clone?
I ask because although the body is 15 clone shaped, it's heavily modified from the original design.
Clone, yes or no?

Hi Joe,
I don't know enough about the 15 clones to add anything. It definitely reminds me of a 15, but... what's with the bar across the back? Is that some sort of industrial modification?
I wish I could give you an opinion, but never having used a 15, I'm not familiar with them.
Someone else out there must have information to add!

Heavily modified 15 clone. Most likely they're buying the basic body of the machines from Asia then doing the necessary mods here.
I've seen some that were dedicated rufflers. That one says it's for embellishing, the tape mentions sequins among other things.
Macybaby might be on to something. I saw the hopping foot too.

Rodney, there's been a fairly new one on our CL off and on for months. It was in a special table built for it. The body of the machine was more modern though. Ring any bells?

Dija notice the needles in the accessory box were Organ brand 16x231? I wonder if this machine takes that needle system or if someone just put the stray needles in the box?
I wouldn't mind having them though.

From watching the video, I'd say this machine is set up to take a much longer needle than the 15x1, which is actually a rather short needle as far as needles go. Not as short as what the chain stitch machines take . . .
