Parts Questions: Singer 128-23
Greetings!
I was gifted a thrifted Singer bentwood case and assured that the machine inside was not, in fact, a Singer. When I finally got it open, I was delighted to find that it is a Singer. The serial number told me it was a 128 from 1950, and after MUCH digging I was able to determine that it is a 128-23 (the BZ9 motor was the final indicator).
The problem I am running into is that the machine is missing some parts. The bobbin cover front slide was missing (I found a replacement already), the spool pin is gone, and the bobbin winder tire is in about 1,000 little pieces. Oh, and it didn't come with a manual.
My questions: will any Singer 128 parts fit a 128-23? I have seen some say that they are compatible with only certain dash-models and it is giving me serious pause. What are some good places to buy replacement parts for someone based in the USA?
Thank you for your help and your time!

Welcome to the Board!
I have bought a lot of parts from
https://www.vintagesingerparts.com/
And I've browsed this site before, but never purchased anything
https://oldsingershop.com/collection...g-machine-part
As to compatibility, that I don't know. I often use "generic" parts such as bobbin tires, rather than hunting down the correct Singer bobbin tire part number for a particular machine. Of course, sometimes the generic tire won't fit if the quarters are cramped, then I keep looking.

I have a 128-23 that came with a manual, but I haven't scanned it. For the most part, most parts will work for any 128 machine. There are some differences, like the front inspection plate on the older 128s that your machine doesn't have. There is a manual at https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mac...ls/127-128.pdf and https://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollec...2678/index.htm https://www.manualslib.com/manual/10...inger-128.html the adjuster's manual at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/36...inger-127.html includes the 128-23.
Mine had a broken key in the lock and part of the wood around the handle is broken out.
The slide plates should be the same across the 128s and 28s machines. They are shorter than the 127s & 27s slide plates.
The bobbin winder tire and the spool pins should be the same across the machines.
We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.
I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.
