I almost bought a 1222 ( or some similar number) but passed because I couldn't test sew on it. Not the way to sell a sewing machine if you ask me. After I passed, I kicked myself but thn life and I moved on. About a year later, same lady had a vintage Bernina 730 in a cabinet for sale for $125. I did get to test sew and it was not sewing well so she knocked it down to $100. I bought that one. After cleaning, oiling and reading the owner's manual (2 with the machine), I figured out why it wasn't sewing well and now that's my go to machine for repairs and quick small projects.
