They are not that fussy. Once you get them dialed in you shouldn't have any trouble out of them, just like any old sewing machine. Pfaff machines use proprietary bobbins and you have to have the right series bobbin for the machine you are using - nothing different than any other old sewing machine. If you run across a 130 and can lift it into the car bring it home, you won't regret it.

LOL that's funny right there. Cast iron sewing machines are great for staying put.

Wow, did I ever get a lot of help on my problem! Thanks to all of you. I performed all of your hints and finally a fellow who works on machines came by and looked at it and turned the bobbin case screw a teensy bit with his fingernail and it worked perfectly. He also said "Leave the tension alone now" - so I guess that's what I'll do. I did print out everyone's suggestions and will keep them in the drawer of the machine. Thanks again. Is this board great or what?

tenngal,

Hope you paid attention to what screw he turned. They are made to be adjusted when needed. There is no such thing as one setting fits all threads and fabrics. Most of them yes, all, no.

I had a repairman check out the machine and it worked fine for another 10 minutes. Every time you change the bobbin it freezes up. Think I will not buy another one, though.
