Default Potted motor sewing machine in cabinet

Has anyone noticed their sewing machine with a potted motor that was inside a cabinet for long period of time flat on its side running slowly next time you try to use it?

I have a singer 201 and the motor was rewired and cleaned last year and the machine ran super fast it was like new. I used it heavily for holiday stuff and then put it away in the cabinet- on hinges and tipped on its side with the folded table on top. I just opened the cabinet and set the machine straight up and tried to use it- and it was super duper sluggish.

I have not found online anywhere saying potted motors should not be in cabinets on their sides or anything- so wondering if this is an issue?

Can the lube run into the motor when on its side?

    How should I proceed?

The only other thing that was changed- was a foot pedal. I took my foot pedal from my Singer 411g and used it on the 201. My 201 foot pedal is no where to be found- I just moved.

I ordered a serviced foot pedal arriving today- so will check out if that makes a difference. The 411g foot pedal probably needs servicing...…..

Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

I doubt this issue was from being stored in the cabinet.
Sewing Machines like regular use and maintenance. The joints may be stiff, just give it a good oiling per the manual.

My new foot pedal arrived so I plugged in the machine and let it run for about 10-15minutes. It started to sew faster- but not at its top speed. I also started smelling a musty smell- not a burnt smell- just slightly musty. So something is not right- it was fully serviced and rewired by a sewing mechanic professional last fall and it sat for 6 months unused in a wood cabinet in a very dry area. Not sure how to proceed.

I would agree with another oiling. While you are there check for critter remnants under the bed.
