I just paid nearly $200 for my tan 301A about six months ago. The seller said it was in good working order (which it wasn't) and it didn't have any accessories except for the case (which smelled to high heaven of grease which now I've heard is characteristic of those cases). I ended up getting it serviced where I work in Glendale and the final result is that it does work very nicely but has a rattly sound which I don't even hear any more and doesn't affect the working of the machine. Our tech could fix it but I've decided it's not necessary, probably a broken fin, or blade, on the cooling motor.
I'd say if you could get this one for $100 to $150 it would be a deal and still worth it if you needed to invest another $50 or so in it. IMO... it's very pretty and mine plows through lots of heavy thicknesses.

I have the beige long bed, love it. Besides, Tucson is nice this time of year.

I would be willing to pay $175. Cords are readily available on e-bay or on line. Long bed blacks are not seen every day.

I paid $75 for my black 301 at a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It's in the cabinet and came with all the attachments and instruction booklet. It looks like new.

I watch shopgoodwill.com and eBay pretty close. I have certainly seen many times that the prices are higher at Goodwill. It is something to take notice of, in view of their not clearly stating the condition of a machine. They go to great lengths to use a disclaimer. Generally, on eBay, the condition is clearly stated. Just saying......

Goodwill generally has a return policy of electronics. I would think that would apply to sewing machines too. BeverlyH is right. Goodwill is usually higher. I've seen things priced higher there than I could buy new at WalMart.

301's are a great machine, big sister to the featherweight and only a lb. more in weight. Yes get it if you can afford it. Then enjoy sewing on it.
