seam guide is the plate under your needle area that has the marked lines on it. you can purchase these on ebay, etc

This is a seam guide....it attaches to the bed of the machine to give you a "ledge" to butt the edge of your fabric against as you stitch. Straight line stitching is NOT one of my better talents, I'd be lost without one! :)

Ohhhh! So that's what that is! I have one, but am just clueless! And all this time I thought I should just use the blue painter's tape! Thanks for the education and the RAK to pinkberrykay.

I am so THANKFUL and HAPPY to know I am not the ONLY clueless sewer out there!!!!! HAHA!!! But if we knew everything.... we wouldn't be buying quilt patterns to challenge our brains, or other challenging projects.
