I live in a 700ft/sq house with no basement and no garage. There is absolutely no room for more than 4 machines here. I have to be very very careful when I go shopping to not bring machines home especially if they are in a cabinet. I have a thrift store shopping addiction that is fact. I know it and I can't seem to control it sometimes. I do find some amazing things for cheep, but if you calculate the time and gas I spend hunting, I'm sure if I stayed home I'd probably save money to pay the price people want on Kijiji and be more productive at other things in my life, like cooking healthy meals and such. But, I'm a thrift addict and I live for the hunt. I think as long as I don't go broke, I get my work done and I don't harm anyone by my actions I'm ok, but I have to try to keep it under tabs almost every day. Ahh first world problems eh.

that must be one of the first computer machines right.. if so I have one gave to me when one of my quilting friends passed, I tried to get the daughter to tkae lessons and keep her Mother's machine but she did not want to do anything with it.. so I love it every day.. it is a great work machine. Love it.. good luck with yours may you have many years of great sewing ...

The answer is the same for machines, fabric, and according to my hubby, power tools. "Just one more.."

Sorry folks, I can't resist this one: The only difference between the men and the boys is the size of their shoes and the price of their toys! You can substitute women and girls, but it doesn't rhyme quite as well! LOL

No matter how many machines you have, one CANNOT pass up a Bernina for $25! I have been eye-ing a 301 LBOW for $50 on CL. I have three 301's already, two of which are LBOW's. I just need ONE black long-bed to find me! With twenty in my stable, I am becoming pickier. I still think it is better to pay more for a really nice one than fritter away money and time trying to find the bargains. I missed out on a truly lovely 15-89 last week b/c I was too cheap. Saver's remorse, I think! Of course, I LOVE the bargains too and I have had my share.

Okay I admit it I can,t turn down a bargain on a good machine. Yesterday I had 30 minutes before I needed to be leaving for work after running several errands. SOOOOOOO what would a quilter that has 13 machines already, do? Yes in dee de , I went to a thrift store. IT WASN,T my fault. It fallowed me home. I found a Bernina 730 record with 10 feet and the tray that swings around. Oh my it was $24.95. I almost fainted. It was made in 1968 and I am having it cleaned and beautified this Friday one day service. I can,t wait to play on it.

So the question IS: Can a person have to many machines?

Whoever marked that price on that machine had NOOO idea of what it was worth!

Lucky you!

To know what I have, I would have to move stuff around. ggggrrrrr..... I have a ton of Singer 15s, + clones, 99s and Spartans. There are 401s 500s 503s 301s 404s and lots of stuff I'm not sure what is in the cases. One VERY nice Singer with lotus decals in a real nice cabinet. Oh and a tan and cream Riccar clone. I think one of the cutest is a little green Riccar... All I could find was a pic of the foot control. I have a whole bunch of old Kenmore machines, too. Who knows what is in there at this point. I think there are some old Japanese zzers - some are pretty cool and some are duds. Ask Joe about duds.
