May I suggest a simple board as a base with 1-3" lengths of dowel at each corner(can be fancy lathe turned too).

They can be trimmed to fit each machine easily.
With a little rubber or felt on the top of each post they would sit nice.

now that is an interesting idea - way easier than cutting out the foam to fit, and then there would be clearance for the underside parts to move also.

and the underside would be visible. I am making a design for one with 6-8" posts and a mirror mounted underneath at the base in the front and as high as possible in the back so that the undersides of machines like the Howe can be seen without picking them up.

Oh wow! Reminds me of that high end clothing store in Seattle (and other places) that has all those machines sitting in their windows (what the heck is the name of that place???) only so much better because it is only a stroll away from your house ... and you own all the machines! Extremely wonderful! You and your dh have done a fantastic job on the shed.

I feel like I moved a ton of machines!

But I think it's actually only about 1700 lbs of them.

Cathy, I hope you and DH enjoy the fruits of what you've accomplished. You've both done a tremendous amount of work! Congratulations on having it finished!

Happy Birthday, Cathy.

Thanks Mavita, I'm taking the day off to finish moving machines around before it starts raining again (rain in the forecast starting tonight until next Monday). It will be a wonderful Bday present to get the moving done today!
