Charq,
Check inside your owners manual. Usually, not always, there is a date code. This would look something 521 for May of 1921. Or they might actually have a date in them. If it does it's generally close to the vintage of the machine. Joe |
Hmmm, I'm wondering how I missed this thread.
Anywho here is my two New Homes: This is my New Home Greyhound Model 30: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...dfrontview.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...iringsetup.jpg She is a tiny little machine made from aluminum rather than cast iron. She's about the same size as a Featherweight but lives in a bent wood case. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...therweight.jpg This is my New Home Model AB: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...pscc3aeb2c.jpg This is the one we got down south that was filled with mouse leavings. She was a mess. Now she sews very nice stitches. The paint and case still need refinished, but she's up and running. Joe |

It was a sign from the Almighty, me reading these posts today. Went to a St. Vincent De Paul store today and what did my wandering eyes spy, a New Home. Beautiful machine, don't even think it has ever been used, there is no scratches or use marks on the bobbin, bobbin plate, foot peddle, everything looks brand new. Will have to post numbers later, only had one cam with it though but that is ok. If I could post pics, I would. Might try that too later. So excited though, want to get down there, oil it up, don't need cleaning, not a speck of lint on it or in it.

Charq,
The date code on that manual is the 4-37. Or April of 1937. By the looks of that machine I'd say that was a real close match. Joe |

I don't know how I missed this thread. I have a New Home Treadle I think a model A.

Thank you so much! You made my day! Now I can go clean her up. I can't wait to use her. The women I bought this from had a Franklin that needed new wiring she wanted $15 for it. I'm seriously thinking of getting that one too!
