The case that is shown with this machine is for one of the earlier machines, possibly 1933. Its in very good condition,
but it isn't worth that much! I've paid as little as $100 for a FW in this condition.
Lots of sellers seem to think because its old its worth a fortune. PULEEZE!!!

I misunderstood the case to be a newer one but it appears to be the original.

I LOVE some of the spelling goofs in a lot of the eBay listings and also Craigslist. Sometimes spellcheck is NOT your friend :-D

Gee, I hope he gets what he wants for it for that would make the ones we have more valuable. Sometimes, just because someone paid a big price for something makes it more valuable to them. Wouldn't e just love to have the money to brag that we paid $1,000.00 for a FW? :)

This person knows that suckers are born every day and he is hoping to find one....soon! The price is ridiculous!

Probably because it is one of the very early ones. I believe the first one came out in 1935 and this is a '36... I don't know the reason, but I know some collectors want the 1936 machines. Maybe someone else here can tell us why? You don't see a 1936 FW come up for sale very often.

There are people out there with more money than sense, and someone will probably buy this machine for that price!

According to a history I found on google the first ones were made in 1933 and the 1936 models were the first ones with a numbered tension dial. They also reworked the bobbin case for some reason. That doesn't mean that this should be worth this much, however, the 1930s ones are getting harder to find in "new" condition.

That is way out of line. The only singer Featherweigth that can cost as high as $3000 is a "freearm" I think that is what it is called.. Anyway part of the base comes off so that you can sew a pant leg or a sleeve from a shirt. These machines are very rare. If you can find one that has a 110 hook-up then it cost more because they were usually made with a 220.

Its nice but way overpriced, you can get a real nice one for $400-$500 or less.
