Sounds a lot like my first sewing machine. It was my mammaw's and she swore it was such a good machine, the sewing machine guy said it was the best, blah blah blah... That machine hated me and wouldn't do anything I wanted. I honestly don't know where that machine is now. My husband-at-the-time bought me a new, cheap Brother at Walmart and I was scared to use it too. His mother was the sewing queen and encouraged me to use it and I didn't have a bit of problem out of it. This is why I'm more prone to newer sewing machines than with the vintage ones.

You will laugh at this one even though it is not a vintage machine. This poor girl needs to get herself one. |

BUT,,this happens a lot now and how many "good" sewer's is the industry losing because of crappy machines??? I wish I could give her one of my older one so she could "possess" more positive sewing skills! |

I replied to her ad by suggesting a vintage sewing machine. It would be interesting to see if she replies.

I think this one's my personal favorite:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SINGER-99-SE...item5ae36ae27e It's on sale for $719, from $899 Most of his ads are "out there". He states in the ad that the "timming" has been checked. Glenn, I think a big part of the problem is that someone sets a price, they don't know what its worth, and posts it on ebay. Then people check ebay to see what theirs is worth (but don't check sold prices, just the asking prices.) and assume that theirs is worth the same, and naturally they've picked one in the higher range of the pricing, because theirs is obviously in better shape than most out there.... it snowballs. I've seen the "thrift" stores around here doing that for pricing lately. Sewing machines are outrageously priced around here. |

actually, the shipping is good...it will not be easy to ship that table! As for the machine..in the "whole" it is amazing..and very nice, but the price should be more like $300!
I'd still like to be a fly on the wall when the mark... uhm I mean -buyer- opens it, and see how it's packed. |
just when you think they can't get any dumber...check out this one!
