Nice machine you have. |

Yes, Irishrose it is black I just dusted it off(Alabama red clay dust). I wonder where this thing has been I think my friend said it had been in his mothers attic. The motor and wiring are good but I think I will use it in a treadle. I took me awhile to figure what blackside was( I kept calling her backslide). I think I will call her Bruen Hilda she is heavy for something do small. Glenn

Glenn, I think Mamie will be a great boat anchor in her next life. When you're old and not overly strong, heavy is an understatement. I always thought my Elna was heavy. Uh-huh.

Take a look at the cool colors of this vintage Brother machine. Please tell me I'm not the only one who can just see a whole room decorated in those colors with the machine being the focal point. LOL

Excuse me for interrupting, but I have a vintage featherweight question. I bought a 1936 model yesterday, and took the bottom cover off to look. One of the wires (?) is covered with some sort of cream colored insulation which is flaking off. Does anyone know what this stuff is and why only one wire is covered? Is the flaking a sign that it should be replaced? Thanks in advance for any info you can give me!
