Chris, I just googled and while that gave another site there wasn't any further info....I guess minor sites might take their info from Singer and/or ISMACS although I'm only guessing.
I have a Singer Capri that is stamped GL-340 and can't find any info other than it is 'early 1963'. There was one for sale on eBay recently and the owner's manual in the photo had L-33 printed on the cover. Maybe these machines are too 'new'?? LOL Bronwyn ;-) |
Bronwyn; That's a distinct possibility or possibly shoddy records were kept. I just don't know but it is severely irritating for me anyway. Singer, mostly, kept quite good records so what happened with the later serial #s is just puzzling.
I keep one or more of the experts will chime in here about how to access serial # lists for the ones not already listed by Singer. I may bite the bullet and call the 800 # or use their email. Just don't know, Thanks for your thoughts and help. Chris :) |

Now I've been to the Singer dating site and I can find out that she was made in Anderson, SC, and between the years of 1951 and 1959 but cannot even begin to figure out how to get to the allotment date. This is because all I've seen so far stops with the A and another letter or the E and another letter serial number. What am I doing wrong and where do I go for more info? Thanks in advance, Chris

Nancy Thanks for that information. Am giving serious consideration to that option and also asked ISMACS digest roughly the same question about dating her. Hopefully, I can get some help from one site or the other. Chris |

I finally have a picture of my 1910 Singer 66-1 Red Eye. I bought it at the NE-TX TOGA in Greenville,TX 4/8/11.
Her clear coat is totally crazed on the machine bed, kind of looks like aligator skin, however she sews wonderfully! She's a 101 years old. My oldest functional machine. I have a full set of back clamping feet. I just got the bobbin winder working properly, just needed a new tire for it. Sharon W. in Texas 1910 Singer 66-1 #G5960807 |
