As far as the chips on the bed this might help you out and should be an easy fix. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-46696-1.htm Now the Bentwood case......... the base should be relatively easy to fix just glue and a bunch of clamps but the lid might be tougher. You can always disassemble the top and get the correct size veneer or plywood ans soak it in water for a bit to soften it up then you nail it around the sides. Clamp it down so everything stays square and straight and let her dry for a few days. Refinish it and the base and it is fixed. Billy |
I read that earlier Billy. Is that just a cosmetic fix, so it will look ok? These chips are rather deep so it is not flush with the rest.
Am I understanding correctly that the paint will just make it LOOK better and there is nothing to be done about the big divits? |

The only other thing would be is to get the Gloss Black model paint in the small bottle and fill it using a tooth pick or paint brush going over it a few times to make sure it was filled. Billy |

 ;-)   I'm cleaning the Singer today... wish me luck! There isn't as much grime as I had originally thought there would be. The irons were hardly dusty at all. Someone loved this beauty until it ended up in that junky "antique" store (yes, quotes are necessary, since it can't be a real antique store with how they treat their items!) I think eventually I will have to take all the veneer off and re-do it. For now, clean, clean, and clean. :) |

I took the whole tension assembly apart and put it back together. Still nothing... Probably a dumb question, but when I turn the handwheel, should the bobbin move at all? It just sits there and does nothing. I wonder how the top thread can engage the bobbin thread if it doesn't move? Or maybe that's normal... lol |

Billy I SWEAR it looks like 8928845............but upon further inspection that first 8 could be a 3...........but I really don't think so. Not much help, am I? I'll save all my dumb questions for you for after I go back through all 100 pages of this thread ;) |
Thought you guys could appreciate this picture I snapped earlier while making dinner...
