I put my new darning foot on the 401A and it doesn't work. This machine sews a nice straight and ZZ stitch (haven't tried any of the cams for other stitches) but it won't let me FMQ on it. I'm sad. Anything I should check on? I thought that raising the plate above the feed dogs was how it was to be done, but that didn't help so put the plate back in place and it still won't catch the bobbin thread. Not sure what to do next.

Probably been answered somewhere already but I can't find it.
I have a 1937 Featherweight that has tape residue (no tape just hardened adhesive) on the bed. I have tried WD40 and GOJO and it hasn't even softened up. Any advise as to how to get it off without marring the paint or finish? Thanks, Ann in TN |

Oh and if you have not gone to the link the 160th Anniversary Singer will be the new Featherweight. Its Black with all of the Gold decals (including the bed decals) and will have the basic shape of the 221K minus the flip bed. It might be new and computerized but the new FW's are a really nice machine and with it being a more modern version of the original FW when they make the anniversary model I will have to own at least one hopefully two of them. (one to keep new in box and one to display and use)

grayhare, if the paint store can't help you, try fingernail polish. Your pink machine is very pretty.

I just got off of eBay. They have a "Red Eye" for sale for $36. There are 12 bids so far. Number 130584241209.
I never saw a decal that looked like a Red Eye. Cat |

Luckily the parts for this machine are really easy to find so I might would go for some accessory feet if I were you. the machine uses the standard 15x1 needles and the class 66 bobbins that are readily available at Walmart and other fabric getting stores! I love my Singer 66's and you should too, but if I were you see if you can get a darning plate for the machine!! Billy Sharon W. in Texas ps: we had 3" of rain this weekend!! Yippee!!! |
