Anything I should check on? I thought that raising the plate above the feed dogs was how it was to be done, but that didn't help so put the plate back in place and it still won't catch the bobbin thread. Not sure what to do next.

I have a 1937 Featherweight that has tape residue (no tape just hardened adhesive) on the bed. I have tried WD40 and GOJO and it hasn't even softened up. Any advise as to how to get it off without marring the paint or finish? Thanks, Ann in TN |

Try a slider or a piece of vinyl over the bed plate with just a hole cut out for the needle, I tape it down with shipping tape. I use a piece big enough to cover the bed of the machine. Works super! You can get the vinyl at Wal-Mart or fabric stores.
