Lisa I was looking at those today also! I tell you what if you like Ferrari's then the Necchi is the machine for you!! It is one of the finest Italian machines out there and you can not go wrong with that model.

The German is pretty neat but I am wondering about the cabinet. Looks like it is a BBQ grille LOL!! But if you are into Friction Drives its a good one also.

But there are several members (one in particular :mrgreen: ) that will tell you that I have an aversion to cords!! And I will agree with them......

Nothing wrong with a nice electrical cord now and then....can come in handy for some things :twisted:

For one, there is the portability issue.....I can take a FW to any site with an electrical outlet and I am in business....my treadle just isn't portable......and yes I could put a hand wheel on it but I'm just not coordinated enough to sew that way.....

I don't love my BU today (can't get it to make a decent stitch; user error), but everyone else loves them!! I have an Adler like the one pictured. I wish I could tell you that I've used it, but--too many machines. I have a couple of friends who've used and liked them, though!!

Now you'd think (since I have too many machines) I wouldn't buy any more, right?? Wrong. I bought a Clemens Mueller #5 HC on Saturday and a Singer 48 (in rather rough condition) today, and brought home an industrial 16-42 that I've been storing in a friend's basement for the past 2 or 3 years. NO will power.

Regarding insurance for machines, if you happen to get into a car accident with your machine in the car...no matter what kind, it's not covered. This happened to a friend of mine and she was just sick over the loss of her machine. She was just banged up.....called me from the hospital wailing over her machine.
