Another Singer 28K, just like Charlee's, but not so old judging by the base and case. This one dates from 1940, the decals are known as Victorian, and funnily enough the lady I bought it from was called Victoria. It was very stiff when I bought it - it hadn't been used for years - but all it needed was a serious de-fluffing and oiling. At the moment I'm making a summer top for my daughter on it. I told her to choose which machine I used, and she chose this one.
Charlee, what year is your 28K? First World War or 1920s? I haven't yet worked out when the 28K was changed. The earlier models had a larger balance wheel and the bobbin winder was set at the bottom. I prefer the feel of the older ones with the extra weight in the wheel. The attachment tin came with the machine The back plate and the face plate both have the pretty vine leaf design |
Your 28 is in excellent condition! I had bid on one on EBay last year and could of won,but withdrew due to financial needs. I am hoping to get one as well.
