You will notice in the first pic the end of the case! In the second you can see the silvered decals and the missing japanning.

Well you aren't going to restore it to original beauty but you can make it serviceable. As far as the wood goes it looks like some Egor couldn't figure out how to open the case so he broke it. You'll have to glue it up and then refinish it.

I did not expect to get it to original, just wanted something to practice on w/out fear of ruining and I felt this one was a good candidate.

The Egor was my DH :). Actually, it was most the way unattached and he picked up the case to move it and it just finished what someone else had started! I might let my boys try out their woodworking skills and reattach it.

That one would be a good one to 'practice' your skills on. It can be addicting though. You will want some more ugly machines to 'practice' on...I'm still practicing.

Minibarn, read all the tutorials and ask questions as you go along in the process. I will be glad to help you with questions so will many others on the QB. Above all have fun with the process as Miriam said it can be addictive. LOL

Thanks Glenn and Miriam. I have already found it to be addicting and I have far fewer machines than most on this board. It is hard for me to not take them home whenever I see one!
