What machine (NOT Bernina) has knee lift?
Yes, I have VSM hoarding disorder. I intend to get treatment. Next week.
I am intrigued by the idea of having a knee lifter for the presser foot, and a needle up/down. But, after being WAY outbid on two vintage Berninas, I am wondering if there are other good, vintage machines with those features? Something I could conceivably get without paying an arm and a leg. I have a lovely looking Viking coming, did any good vintage vikings come with knee lift? I could see myself getting into the viking mystique (I love rotary machines, after all) but have given up on the Bernina cult. ;-) |
I don't know that much about other machines with presser foot knee lifts, but having had 2 recent Berninas and one older one, I can tell you that they for the price they do for a reason. They really last.

Elna supermatics have one.

It's a straight stitch only, but a vintage Singer 1200-1 has a knee lift mechanism incorporated into what is essentially a Singer 201-2 in its industrial - style table.

I don't know what your price range is, but a Juki 98e or 98Q have a knee lift and needle up/down. It's a semi-industrial that just does a straight-stitch. It also has a rotary hook.

What is a "semi-industrial"?? I thought those Juki machines were marketed to quilters.
