The machine is cleaned as much as I can get too, and it sews wonderfully but is noisy and I have no cams to check that part out. Thanks for all your comments. Keep them coming if you can help me out. Thanks It also has a power flickering problem, so I'm guessing the electrical needs tweaked...anybody know anything about that with these machines???
You should take the bottom off to oil the various parts down there that need to be oiled but no the hook and bobbin stuff is accessed via the throat plate bobbin cover area.
The pulley is accessed via the handwheel - you'll see that on the video NapaJohn posted.

For tough screws, the oil is good but also have a really good fitting screwdriver and seat the bit in the screw and give it a firm tap on the top of the top of the screwdriver.

I don't have the machine anymore but I don't remember anything particularly character building.

There might be a U-tube video on it.

There is. It's video full of stills that I mentioned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0YGkYvhCFs
The Supermatics that I worked on didn't have the snap ring and I think that's what Colleen's fighting with.

Yep, the snap ring is the next step I'll deal with. Want to take a look at that pulley part before I order it. Probably be making a trip to Harbor Freight tomorrow if needed. Thanks so much for all of your help. Now I have to decide if I want to buy some cams. All fun in the long run.

SOOO, does anyone know what size of "drift pin" that holds the new friction pulley would be. I have the old one off, and ready to order a new one but I don't think a new pin comes with it. Hubby says if he knew what the size was he could probably get one locally. The old pin is in too bad a shape to reuse. Thanks Colleen

Guess it's proper name is "roll pin" anyway...just wondering if anyone knows the correct size of it.
