Smile question on 15 91 singer

I just bought this machine and started a nine patch quilt to see how it would sew. It is sewing very well but was wondering if all 15 91 singer when sewing and then stopping does all of these machine coast for a few stitches before it stops sewing all together?

I have got use to it doing that and just watch when I stop the machine.. Thanks for your input on this question...

Do you know what might be wrong with it? It does sew with very nice stitches..

Yes, they tend to do this. It's very common with some vintage machines. If you put pedal to the metal and abruptly take your foot off, they do sometimes stitch a few stitches. There's nothing wrong with your machine, it's the nature of the design.

Can't that be caused by the foot control, a sluggish mechanism or something? Change to an electronic pedal for better control? I could be wrong. Research that, lol.

This guy makes you yell "Get on with it!" but he talks about old foot pedals vs. electronic.

My 201 does this. Keep sewing, you'll figure out when to stop early so the machine stops when you want it to.

It shouldn't do that. My 15-88 never did that until we put an after-market motor on it (wore out the original). Something is not right between the pedal and the motor, but haven't spent enough time going through it, since it's at Mom's house 200 miles away. I'll fix it when it comes to my house. DH spent a career with all things electric, so I'm saving it for him.

interesting... Our 201-2 and 15-91 both did this. I assumed it was a property of being gear driven vs belt.
