    Question Question about a vintage German? Treadle Sewing Machine

    Hello All;
    I was looking at various antique sewing machines online in search of some information on an antique sewing machine I had

    I saw the wonderful assortment of machines posted by members so thought someone here might have some info on it

    The machine I believe is German it says nähmaschinen fabric on the top and F. INFAN or F.IHFAH on the front of the machine

    It is mounted a floor standing table & is treadle powered

    Has anyone ever heard of this company before? as my searches came up with nothing

    Any help or information would be appreciated

    AJ

    well in the German language nähmaschinen translates to sewing machine. So with the word fabric added on it could mean the machine is for fabric and not heavier stuff like canvas or leather. Identifying machines is a lot easier if you could post a photo. That and we like to ooh and ahh over different machines. lol

    I would ask for a picture too. Some German makers would put a customers name on the front for a little extra money. That could have been the buyer.

    Thank you both for your replies and I will see if I can get a few pics in the next day or so , in the meanwhile I found a machine that looks very close to mine except mine is olive green / military drab .

    People I got it from said they used it in WWII when they were still in Germany

    here is a pic of the machine I found on the web that looked like it

    Naehmaschinen Fabrik = sewing machine factory.

    Can't read what it says on the front of the machine. Can you supply a close-up?

    Hi sews;
    This is not a picture of my machine, just one on the internet that looked like it

    mine is olive drab green and says F. INFAN on the front of the machine

    where the circle is on the pic above mine is an oval divided in half

    the right side oval has F. INFAN printed in an up down direction

    the left side oval has a hawk in side profile
