Question on parts - New Home Climax
I am hoping to get started on her sometime in the next week or two. The decals are gone. No hope saving these so I am going for a "fantasy" paint job. I do not have the treadle or even room for the treadle if I had it. Is there any hope finding a hand crank to fit it? Any of you more experienced folks got any ideas?

Do a google image search on New Home Sewing Hand Crank - and you'll see what they look like. Your machine will need the mounting on the back - can't tell from the picture if yours has that or not.
If yours has the mounting point, then just watch on eBay for one that looks right. Since New Home badged machines, you won't be able to use the "name" as much help finding a hand crank. And don't expect the sellers to have a clue what the crank fits either.
BTW - when you do the search - only look at the pictures that are New Home machines, you'll get mostly pictures of other machines and that won't help you.
This is one of the better ones - and this should be the same model as yours.

I have a Climax treadle also, I couldn't find to much about the machine. Did not know it was a New Home machine and that will help. I will follow the discussion hoping to find out how to get the top tension correct.
