So far so good. I am in the middle of a refurbishing job on a 1909 Singer treadle. I have the cabinet under control, my question concerns the iron stand. I have removed all the rust and WD 40'd the whole frame. What is the consensus on painting the treadle irons? Is that a good thing to do, just matte black or does it completely destroy the "vintage" feel? I need opinions! Thanks!

Ask Billy. He's our resident treadle guru! He's finished lots and lots of machines and just loves treadles. He'll know!

Billy is Lostn51, and yes indeed he is the board's resident treadle expert. He has posts on refurbishing machines and such under the Vintage Sewing Machines.
