Default Ruler work on my 15-88

The Westalee ruler starter kit that I ordered at the Madison, WI quilt expo was waiting for me when I came home from work Friday night. I dropped the feed dogs on my 15-88, made a scrap sandwich and started playing. This sample looks like a 6 year old did it, but I have to say, it was a blast! Trying to coordinate moving the quilt, holding the ruler, getting the hand wheel to go in the right direction all while treadling sure is challenging. I did have quite a few snapped upper threads when that dratted wheel went i the wrong direction, but it is just so much fun. I think once I develope some half way decent skill with this, I am going to have a really good time quilting negative spaces:-)

This was the first time I tried free motion quilting but it sure will not be the last

Congrats! All of that corredination does sound tricky, but it's a skill I wish I could do!

I can't imagine doing that on a treadle machine! Have fun!

Your first attempts look at least as good as mine if not better and all I had to do was plug mine in!

It looks really good. I got the westalee high shank foot and a sew easy starter ruler (I think that is the one) and am practicing. But I started right on on a big sampler quilt. It is quite fun and a challenge. Some things look great. And some don't. Yours look wonderful and considering you are coordinating a treadle all I can say is wow.

You inspire me to get my new ruler foot and ruler out and play. Your first efforts are proof that some good work can come from playing.

Wow! I didn't know you could do ruler work on a domestic machine, much less on a treadle. I guess I missed that booth at the expo. I suppose I walked right by it and ignored it. I'm going to have to look into this. My treadle is waiting!
