jeanette, that's great for you...glad you could find one that cheap. However, I have been collecting vintage sewing machines for a loooong time and although I have bought many a vintage Singer for $20-$40 and even several free, the cheapest I have ever been able to pick a featherweight up for has been $175. Well I did buy one for $50 one time, but it was trashed. A serious collector is sometimes willing to pay more for a machine that is harder to find, or simply completes a series, etc.
also I would be curious how long ago that was? Many Goodwill's don't even put sewing machines out in their stores because they know they can get a lot better price out of them on their auction site. The same is true for many of the treasures you used to be able to find in the stores. Certainly has taken the fun out of it for me. Lol!

It's a beautiful color and looks great. The black ones here in Maryland are ranging from 225-300, so if I were a collector (I'm a wannabe) then maybe 400 tops if it works well. If I were really serious, I'd ask the booth person to make a call to the owner with your price. I personally wouldn't buy it at full asking price.

WOW it's pretty. Now hear this, a really sad story-Saturday my sisters friend stopped by while I was visiting with sis. She asked if I knew what a featherweight was because she saw one at local estate sale and since she did not collect machines, she passed on it. She went back a little later and it was sold. She had second thoughts because she said it was so cute and looked new with the case and accessories. I asked what color was the machine and she said it was beige. I asked how much they were asking and she said $50, yes that is $50 folks!! Where the heck am I when things like this occurs. When I told her that machine could fetch between $400-$600, she almost fainted. She now has my number on her cell and will call me in the future.
