"Another site with "two letter prefixes" said 1934. Do you know which date would be correct?"
i am guessing it is the latter date as the foot is a side clamping foot and the change from rear clamping on the 66 was made in 1923

MaryTG,
The production date is probably correct. Many of the early 66s were converted from the back clamp system to the side clamp system at a later date. I have several of them that I know are old enough to have originally had the back clamp presser feet, that currently use the low shank feet.

The decals are usually more beat up than that example. $75 is a decent price. Not a steal but not bad either. I'd be tempted-especially if the drawers were full of bobbins and attachments.

I actually looked up the revised number on the comprehensive site and it shows that SN G0 (not the letter O) 463379 was issued on Nov. 13, 1923, which probably means that the side clamping feet are original to the machine. There are 7 digit numbers under the G letter late in the use of that letter and that is where this unit fits. http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...l-numbers.html

Just a little update - I have it on very good authority that the Singer 66 Red Eye (or is it Red Head?) has found a very good home, less than 50 miles from where I live.
I will be sure to share all this info with the machine's new "mother."
