Selling machines for scrap metal
#11
I have to say that I am guilty of having scrapped a whole lot of vintage and older machines and yes we got 3.00 a head. But I had to clear them out so that I could have my studio. We hauled over 200 to the junk yard. However I must clarify that my sister had already striped them down removing any and all parts so that the machines that I did sell to friends for 5.00 a head had also been stripped and they had to look for parts. I have now uncovered a box that has all kinds of needles in it marked for the various machines. Not sure what I will do with them I am a sewer and not much on the collection end of things.

Some of the old obsolete needle systems for vintage and antique domestic machines are fairly valuable. 1 needle is sometimes worth more than a scrap head (go figure). A check of ebay's "Sold Listings" will give a good idea of their value. The industrial needles or 15x1's generally don't fetch much per needle.
