Sew Like an Egyptian
Ok, so I know I said a Sphinx was down on my list and I was going to be good and focus only on getting a cabinet for the Minnesota C and take my time finding the right New Home Greyhound and get a good bargain for them all, keep a budget but... I saw this poor thing on a local auction and thought it didn't even have any works on the bottom, so rusted, missing a bobbin plate, but... $16 + $2.81 in fees & a 40 min. drive. I think it will clean up ok and may never work but it's pretty. It's 12831544 made in 1895.

Doesn't look like it'll take all that much to make it work again. You have a very nice start on the machine. The decals look far better than most I've seen and that's one of the hardest things on them to me. Mechanical fixes have always been easier for me than cosmetics like a good paint job and good decals.
Some of the others here can probably point you to a source for the slide plate, shuttle and bobbin for it.

Well, you really did get smitten by this vintage thing, didn't you! ha ha. I'm enjoying every second of your adventures. Keep us posted on your progress with this one. I predict it will end well.

Obviously, it needs a bobbin, shuttle, bobbin plate but I don't know what else. As I get to polishing & cleaning it more, I may be able to find other things. I'm not entirely sure what should be there in the first place.

If you want to replace rusty, pitted plates with nicer ones, let me know. I'm never going to use them. Maybe I should just drop the entire machine off next time I'm driving through, and you can decide what you want to use (and they YOU get to deal with what is left LOL!!) I'm sure I've got lots of extra Singer shuttles too.
