Singer 115 Treadle Machine Bobbin Case

Singer 115 Treadle Machine Bobbin Case
The bobbin case for this machine has a metal "pigtail" that the thread needs to go through. I can't get the bobbin thread to sew correctly. Does the thread have to go straight through this "pigtail or how is it threaded.
